Importance of Welding Safety Training in the Workplace
Welding, cutting and brazing combine several serious hazards at once: fire and explosion from sparks and slag, burns, toxic fumes and gases, intense UV light that can injure the eyes and skin, and electric shock from the welding circuit. OSHA’s welding, cutting and brazing standards (29 CFR 1910 Subpart Q) set requirements for fire prevention, ventilation and protective equipment. Our Welding Safety training video explains these hazards along with the equipment and safe practices employees can use to avoid them, including the right personal protective equipment.
Because so many welding fires start outside the weld zone, Hot Work Safety and the Permitting Process explains how permits, fire watches and combustible clearance prevent them. Shocks and Arc Flash covers the electrical side, including how arc flash incidents happen and why approach boundaries matter. Round out the program with fire prevention training, eye safety courses and compressed gas cylinder safety for crews using oxygen and fuel gases.
All three welding safety training videos are available in English and Spanish. Assign them to welders and fabricators through Unlimited Interactive Online Training, show them in the shop with Classroom / Trainer Delivery, or order safety DVDs and USBs for locations without reliable internet.
