Importance of Cold Stress Training in the Workplace
Working in cold weather lowers body temperature faster than most people realize, and the results range from frostbite and trench foot to hypothermia, along with the slips, falls and vehicle incidents that come with ice and snow. OSHA has no single cold stress standard, but the General Duty Clause still requires employers to protect workers from recognized cold-weather hazards. Our Cold Stress training video teaches employees how to recognize the symptoms of cold stress and how to help treat cold-related conditions before they become serious.
Choose the training video that matches where your people work. Outdoor crews can take Cold Stress in Construction Environments, plant and maintenance staff Cold Stress in Industrial Environments, and dock, yard and cold-storage workers Cold Stress in Transportation and Warehouse Environments. For the other hazards the season brings, add Winter Safety, and pair it with our slips, trips and falls safety courses. Crews who work in both extremes should also see our heat stress training.
Cold stress training works best before the first freeze, so pick a delivery method you can roll out quickly: Unlimited Interactive Online Training for individual assignments with completion certificates, Unlimited Safety Video Streaming for crew meetings, or safety DVDs and USBs for remote sites. Cold stress courses are available in English, and Winter Safety is also offered in Spanish.
