Importance of Bloodborne Pathogens Safety Training in the Workplace

Any job that could bring employees into contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials, whether in a hospital or while cleaning up after an accident on a loading dock, exposes them to HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) requires an exposure control plan, hepatitis B vaccination for exposed employees, and training at the time of assignment and at least once a year after that. Our Bloodborne Pathogens in the Workplace training video covers the different types of bloodborne pathogens and how workers can protect themselves from exposure.

Exposure risks look very different from one workplace to the next, so we offer bloodborne pathogens training videos for healthcare facilities, industrial environments, construction environments, food processing and handling, office environments and transportation and warehouse environments. Employees designated to give aid should also complete our first aid safety courses.

Because the standard requires annual training, Unlimited Interactive Online Training makes it easy to assign the course every year and keep completion certificates for your records. You can also use Unlimited Safety Video Streaming for group sessions or safety DVDs and USBs. The healthcare and industrial courses are available in English and Spanish, and the others in English.
